An Interview With My Bestfriend

Today one of my bestfriend’s, Rayna, came over today.  SHe has been homeschooled her entire life, and this will be her first year of public school!!!   Lucky enough for me, I got to Interview Her about the changes that have happened over the last few months.

Me:  what was homeschooling like for you?

Rayna:  “It is very different from public school.  IN homeschooling, I was taught with a small group of kids. Nothing compared to the amount of kids at public school.  ALSo, we din’t have to study for tests, do homework, take quizzes, or do PE.  We go on a lot of field trips and do a lot of hands on things, which we don’t do as much in public school.”

Me:  What was the transition like for you?

Rayna:   “It was a huge change for me. from time to myself, and the comfort of my own home; to congested hallways, and a constant flow of homework.  As a dancer, it was hard for me to find time to do homework In between classes.”

Me:  What are the advantages/disadvantages to homeschool?

Rayna:  “The advantages to homeschool I think, is all the hands on activities and field trips we get.  And all the leisure time we have to ourselves. The disadvantages though, is being cooped up inside most of the day, and not really getting to socialize with other kids.”

Me: What are the advantages/disadvantages to public school?

Rayna:  The advantages to public school is getting to know all the different kids and teachers.  I think  the educational experience has been more advance.  One of the biggest disadvantages for myself, has been the lack of free time.  School ends later, and i get lots of homework, but I still somehow manage to get my homework in on time.

Me: what has been your overall opinion about public school?

Rayna:  Overall public school has been really fun, and i’m really glad I joined!!

Ballet

The lights dim, and the audience hushes. I look to see to see the audience without being noticed. It’s a sold out performance. Suddenly the sound of Tchaikovsky fills the theatre. I start running out, the thrill of being onstage and dancing for a sold out crowd is amazing. Since I was two years old I wanted to do something on stage. that was the first year for me starting ballet and I loved it. At two years old I knew I wanted to keep doing it. When I turn thirteen it will be my eleventh year dancing!

Even though its almost my eleventh year dancing only last year I got my pointe shoes. It takes a lot of strength to dance on your toes. If you start too early you can damage your feet because they have not built up the strength and structure for you to safely dance on pointe.

Lots of people tend to say ballet is easy but when, but when they say that, I glare at them and ask them to do a double pirouette with their knees straight, legs turned out, stomach in, bottom down, back straight, standing all the way on the ball of their foot with their neck long, arms rounded, and oh ya, don’t forget to spot. But at the same time i know that when they did see ballet they saw some good ballet dancers because its a dancers job to make themselves look effortless and graceful because not many people would like to see a ballet dancer biting her lip as she slowely pulls onto point with veins coming out their neck and all that gross stuff.

But when I put on a performance all of the hard work through the year pays off. Without dance I can honesly say that my life would defiantly not be what it is now, and I wouldnt have met my bestfriends.

Haunted House

Shrieks echoing up and down the abandoned hallway. My friend and I cling on to each other for dear life as we frantically walk through the haunted house. Chills ran through my body as if a ghost had walked into me, but instead of quickly passing through, the ghost stayed, haunting my body.

Out of the dead silence, there is a loud yell. I quickly turn the corner, only to see one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen. My friend and I scream our lungs out, turn our heads the other direction, and run for dear life. We past all the “monsters” and ran through half the house in less than a minute.

We enter a room of electronic eyes glowing on the walls, which was actually pretty cool. We started walking to catch our breath hoping no monster would pop out. As we continue walking our hearts starting beating at a normal tempo again. Luckily no monsters decided to get our heart rates up again.

As we leave the room of eyes, there is only black ahead of us. The only light there is, is from the room of glowing eyes behind us. The farther we go in the darker it gets. We start putting our hands against the wall so we can make out where we are going. Suddenly my friend screams which makes my heart skip a beat. She turns to me and says, “Something grabbed my arm my arm.”
I turn pale white. “Are your sure,” I ask. “If this is a joke, it’s a joke it’s not funny.”
“Im not kidding, I swear something grabbed my arm.”
“Well, don’t touch the walls again just in case.”

We walk a little farther, when we enter the next room. I could see the exit staight ahead. But before I rushed to the door, I took a look at my surroundings, only to notice the scariest mummy I’ve ever seen. There was blood dripping down its face, and glowing red eyes. I start crying it’s the last thing I needed right then.

Unexpectedly the woman in the costume takes off the mask and tries comforting me. She assures me it’s just a costume which makes me feel a lot better. I wipe the tears off my face and thank her.

As we exit the haunted house we look back and at that moment, both knew it was an experience we would never forget.
